I heard the front door chime go off and so I went to see who had gone outside. When I get in the garage Nya is standing there in her swimsuit. I asked her what she was doing and she said she was going outside to get "hotted off!" As opposed to "cooled off" I guess...
Nya walks up to me and says, "Mommy, as long as Daddy does not annoy me tonight than I will tell him 'Te Amo Papi' when he comes home." Which must have been inspired by an episode of Dora since that means "I Love you, Daddy."
So, in an effort to help Nya with her reading and spelling I try to spell out small words when I tell her something. For example, "Nya, go get your C-U-P" or "Can you please S-I-T down." Well, either poor Iylah is going to be real confused or real smart because I heard Nya Bliss playing with her and saying, "Iylah, do you want me to pick you U-P?" or "Do you want to go see our D-O-G?" Then other times I hear her spelling things that make no sense at all, such as, "Iylah do you want me to get your B-T-U-R-X-S-A-T-Q-E?" I was like, Nya, what did that spell and she just looked at me cock -eyed and said, "it spells BLANKIE mommy."

Try and follow this one...
OK-So anytime that I tell Nya it is bath time or bed time or anything like that she adamantly opposes and protests until I have to become "evil mommy" and force her to do whatever it is she was asked to do. So in an attempt to explain to her why it is pointless to behave this way I tried to use her favorite tv characters as an example. I was reminding her that anytime the characters on tv (such as Little Bill, Dora, Kai Lan) are asked to do things they respond like "SURE MOMMY, NO PROBLEM." Her response was, "Mommy, remember that I am real and when kids are real, not like tv kids, then we do not act nice. We act rotten and we say no when it is bath time. That is what a real kid does. I am not a tv kid mommy, sorry to tell you."
Seriously, I can I argue with that. That is what I get for raising a logical kid. I guess I will continue to have to bully her into the bath, bed, etc...Oh,and the picture is strictly for laughs. It was taken months ago!

Iylah's new form of transportation
Nya has discovered that she can carry her sister around, sort of. I will leave Iylah somewhere with some toys or a bottle and if she makes even the tiniest peep then Nya runs over scoops her up (literally) and totes off to find me. Iylah does not seem to mind but I foresee some injury coming from this in the near future.
Happy Birthday Jax!
We went to Jackson's 1st birthday party and the girls had a great time. The party was perfect and Nya busy swimming, which always makes for an exhausting afternoon. Iylah had a great time splashing in the baby pool and watching all the kids swim around in the big pool. Jax had the most amazing LION cake, it was so adorable. The picture of him in the highchair was during the "Happy Birthday" song and his face is so priceless! He looks like he is thinking "what is wrong with all these idiots?" We were supposed to attend baby Cayden's birthday party later in the day but both kids were wiped out and fell asleep and then I got a surprise call from the in-laws who wanted to see the kids. Sorry ERIN, I still have Cayden's present and I will drop is by this week...
and now I shall sit on you...
So, Iylah was playing with her toys when she quickly noticed Oliver was sleeping on the floor behind her. She, speedily, crawled over to him and proceeded to try and sit on top of his head. She kept maneuvering her body to try and place her butt directly on the top of his head. SO funny! Of course, in true Oliver fashion, he just sat there very still until she gave up and crawled away!

I have officially failed as a parent...
So, Nya and I are sitting on the couch and a commercial comes on the TV. There is a guy and a girl both in their mid-30's holding hands and walking down the beach laughing and smiling together. Nya says "That must be her brother or her daddy." Then I say, "No honey it is probably her husband. They must be husband and wife." Nya then says, "No way Mommy, they are laughing and having fun together. Husbands and wives don't ever do that."
I have ruined my daughter's view on how a married couple should act. She is forever going to have this distorted view of marriage. I am going to look into counseling (for her) ASAP!

Spring Musical
Nya had her spring musical. All I can say is she DID NOT stick her tongue out the entire performance as she had done during the Christmas musical. I consider that a step in the right direction. Iylah has learned to stand up in her crib so it was lowered today. She is slowly becoming less and less of a baby. Sad...

Just an average Thursday...
Some of Nya's peeps: (from left to right) Nya, Mona, WIlla, Lilly, Cami and Alex.
So we had a spur of the moment little party at our house today. We had a play date set-up with Alex and Cami and before you know it we had the whole crew here. We ordered pizza, went down the water slide, played play-doh, played duck, duck, goose, simon says (actually Suzie says) and the kids decided it would be fun to jump from bed to bed in the guest room.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MOM!

Hey mom, I just wanted to say thanks for being awesome and for being so supportive. The kids and I could not survive without you. I asked Nya on the way home if she would be sad if you were not her "mom" and she said..."Well, is she gonna be someone elses mom? Because that is not fair because she is my "mom" and I love her more than anyone else can." We love you and we hope you have a very relaxing, well deserved mother's day! P.S. We need to take some pictures with you and Iylah (I do not have any).

Almost summer...
So we have been doing a lot of summerish activities these days. I think it is mental preparation for the quickly approaching end of preschool. Iylah has really been liking my sunglasses and sometimes it is all she want to play with. Tonight Nya and Sebastian had their own little "kid's tables" set up compliments of Suzie and her house. They we so cute sitting out by the pool eating dinner together.

My Nya
Nya (while storming into the kitchen to tell me something): Mommy, I DO NOT like giraffes ANYMORE!
Mommy: Why not? What did a giraffe do to you?
Nya: Nothing, but they think that they are taller than everyone and that is mean. It is not nice to say you are taller than all people!
Little backstory...My mom had just gotten back from a weekend in Vero Beach with her friends where they all got spray tanned. My mom was telling Nya all about it and of course playing up how great "tan skin" is and why she wanted to look more tan. Nya took it all in but listen to what she said when I put her to bed that night.
Nya: "Mommy, why did mom want to get all those people's tan skin sprayed into her? That is really, really gross.
Mommy: "It was not actual skin, honey."
Nya: "Well, if mom wanted to have some tan skin she should have just borrowed some of mine."
Nya (while in bed talking to her stuffed animals and I am listening on the monitor): "Thank you everybody for coming to my bedtime. For my next trick I will go to sleep. Now good night. Thank you all for coming!"
