Nya-ism...

We were driving in the car and I looked in the rearview mirror at Nya Bliss and she is looking down at her hand with a very sad and distraught facial expression. I said, "What's wrong Nya?" and she said, "I feel so bad for thumbs, they are so far away from their other finger family." She then holds her hand up with all her fingers stretched apart and says, "See Mommy, look at my poor thumb, it is all alone...I am going to pay extra attention to my thumbs from now on."

Could she be any friggin' sweeter and HILARIOUS!!!

From another blog

This is an entry from another blog that I read (motherhoodwtf) and I thought this was sooooo hilarious because it totally sounds like a conversation we have had in my car a time or 2.

MOTHERHOOD-WTF?

In a moment of misguided enthusiasm, I taught L the game “I spy” in the car the other day. He is hopelessly bad at it. This is from our game today. We were stopped at a red light:

me: Yay! The light is green! I spy with my little eye something green. (could I make it any easier?)

L: Is it a car?

me: No.

L: Is it a house?

me: No. Ask about what it’s like instead of just guessing.

L: OK. Is it a bunny?

me: No. Try asking questions about its size or shape.

L: OK. Is it the size of a car?

me: No.

L: Is it car-shaped?

me: No, L, it’s not a car.

L: (totally exasperated) I didn’t ask if it was a car! I asked if it was car-shaped. Ugh!

me: No, it’s not car-shaped.

L: Is it house-shaped?

me: (sigh) No.

L: Is it a bunny?

me: No, L, it’s not a green bunny!

L: Is it a car?

me: (big sigh) OK, why don’t you take a turn thinking of something.

L: OK. I see with my eye something green. It’s car-shaped.

me: Is it a bunny?

L: No, Silly Mommy! It’s a car! You’re not very good at this game. I wish Daddy was here. He’s better.

Summer fun has begun...

Well, we have settled into the this new summer time routine of no bedtime, no structure, no normal...I need to start roping things in a bit because we are going to have a hard time once school begins. My mom came with us to a really nice hotel so the kids could swim and have a very "island style" dinner. We sat in a great outdoor covered restaurant while waiting for the rain to pass. It was really fun and really nice.

True to form...

So I know that I should not find this so amusing but I do. Hak took this picture of Iyla the other day when he was trying to "pretend" to take a bite of her donut. This is the face she gave him for like 3 minutes straight. HILARIOUS...

Recent funnies...

So, here are some more hilarious comments that my children have said recently. By the way, I happen to think they might just be the funniest kids EVER on the planet!

Nya (after I had left Hakim inside with the kids for like 4 minutes) - "You know what Mommy, Daddy is a really bad babysitter...we didn't do anything fun!" WOW, I was only outside for like 4 minutes, what did she think he could cram into that time?

Nya (while talking to Leila when she thought nobody was listening) - "You are going to be really sweet like me when you grow up, not a big meanie like Iyla."

Nya - (again while talking to Leila when she thought I was not listening) - "Leila, don't be scared about your surgery. I promise your legs won't fall off, I promise."

Iyla - (while looking at a DEAD worm in the driveway) - "Come here my little sweetie, do you really, really love me little sweetie?"

Iyla - (in the middle of the night in a VERY loud voice) - "Nyyyyyaaaaaaaa, come to my bed, need to save meeeeeeeeeeeee!!!"

Iyla - (after smearing chapstick on her stomach) "Hey Mommy, come here, you have to smell my little body right now!"

Like I said...THE FUNNIEST KIDS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay, this is the last of it!!!

a couple more...

IYLA'S 2nd BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!

We did it!!! Thanks mom for letting us have it at your house/pool and for helping me set up everything (especially the streamers and balloons). Thanks to Stacy for the awesome birthday banner (see pic), gift tags and cutting up the peppers!!! Thanks Erin for helping out with the food and balloons (wish you and Cayden could have stayed longer). Thank you Erika Froling for going to the store with me, putting away the food and for changing Iyla's super funky diaper (you are a seriously GREAT friend for that one). It was an awesome party. We kept it really small but it was still really fun. The kids swam, went on the trampoline, made their own sundaes and sang happy birthday to my sweet little 2 year old girl, IYLA JADE!!

Play Date with the Spuler Family!

We had a play date with the Spuler gang out in Celebration the other day. The Spuler kids consist of Owen (7), Colin (5), Ethan and Emma Belle (3) and Gage (3 months). What a great day, Thanks Jenni

The meeting

Well, lots of you have been asking about my meeting with Dr. A. yesterday. Everything went well. It was him, another ortho, the head nurse and a lady from the DDH research team. He answered all my questions and few extras that I thought of on the spot. I remember having a ton of questions before Nya has her adenoidectomy but they were more about the actual procedure because there was not really any future issue that could happen afterwards. Ok, back to Leila. The best points of the meeting were:
1. Her procedure will be a "closed reduction" which means they only have to do a small incision to put the "ball" in place. As opposed to an "open reduction" which would mean they would have to do a formal incision to expose her entire hip and that has way more complications. Phew!
2. The surgery should only take 75 minutes.
3. She only needs a half cast (see photo) since her left hip is good, which means the cast will only go to her knee on the left. Take note that the kid in the photo is like 2 and my tiny baby will be wearing a GIANT cast like that, very sad.
4. The doc was fine with me going to Boston and was actually very supportive and encouraging.
5. She should recover perfectly since she is so young and she still has so much cartilage in her hip.
6. The research team is lending me the special car seat (see photo) used to transport children in the spica cast (phew, because they are like $500) so I can take Nya to school and everything.
7. Her surgery date is scheduled for AUGUST 19th at 6 AM (unless we get a miracle in Boston).
8. She will be 1 before we are done with all this, 3 months in the cast plus another 3 months in the brace. Ugh.
9. IT COULD BE WAY WORSE!!! My children is NOT fighting for her life, she is NOT in any pain, she will NOT even remember this. I have to remind myself of that daily because otherwise I get too caught up.
10. Dr. A. said she will be my athlete and I am betting he is right!

That is pretty much it, there was a lot more areas discussed but nothing that is very interesting.

Happy Birthday Sola!!!

We love you Sola, enjoy your 2nd birthday!
